【7】Physical and chemical properties

White or slightly yellowish crystalline or crystalline powder, odorless, with a sour taste. The melting point is 190~192℃, easily soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, and insoluble in chloroform, ether, and benzene. The pH of 5% aqueous solution is 2.2 to 2.5, its aqueous solution is unstable, especially in neutral or alkaline solution, it is quickly oxidized, and it will accelerate oxidation when exposed to light, heat, and metal ions such as copper and iron.

Ascorbic acid, as a vitamin-type growth substance, is widely distributed in the fruits of plants. Ascorbic acid participates in the redox effect in the electron transport system in plants, promotes the metabolism of plants, and also has the effect of capturing free radicals in the body, which can improve the disease resistance of plants.

 promotes rooting of cuttings

Marigolds, cosmos, and kidney beans were mixed with 5.28 mg/L ascorbic acid + 6.09mg L indole butyric acid.

It can significantly promote the rooting effect of cuttings. Mixing with indole butyric acid is better than using indole butyric acid alone in inducing the rooting of cuttings.

Enhance disease resistance and stress resistance

wheat

Spraying 30mg/L ascorbic acid liquid on the surface of the wheat seedling stage (2 to 3 leaves) and booting stage can improve the effective tillering rate, ear formation rate, and thousand-grain weight of wheat, and increase the yield by 15% to 30%, and the effect is remarkable. At the same time, it can improve the immunity of wheat,and  show special effect against powdery mildew, and the average control effect on wheat powdery mildew is over 85%.

potato

Spraying 60 mg/L ascorbic acid solution at the potato seedling stage, tuber formation stage and tuber expansion stage can significantly reduce the occurrence of potato late blight and increase the tuber yield per unit area.

tomato

Soaking seeds with 17.6-193.6 mg/L liquid or spraying tomatoes at the seedling stage can improve tomato disease resistance; spraying on tomato fruit at the fruiting stage can improve tomato resistance to botrytis cinerea.

tobacco

Spraying 30 mg/L ascorbic acid liquid once in the seedling stage, the cluster stage and the prosperous stage can improve the resistance of tobacco to mosaic virus.

rapeseed

The 176mg/L liquid was sprayed once at the seedling stage and flowering stage of rapeseed, which could activate the anti-stress system of rapeseed, alleviate the damage, and reduce the effect of cadmium on the reproductive growth of rapeseed in the later stage.

Extend the flowering period and keep fresh

Gerbera

Soaking fresh cut flower branches with 50mg/L liquid medicine can increase the flower stem, prolong the flowering period and keep fresh.

rose

Pretreatment with 1000mg/L ascorbic acid at 8℃ for 12h can effectively improve the opening of rose flowers, reduce the increase of relative conductivity in petals, and prolong the preservation time of cut flowers.

cherry tomatoes

Soaking cherry tomatoes with 8.8% ascorbic acid for 30min and storing them at 15℃ can effectively delay the decline of cherry tomatoes’ hardness and the increase of soluble solids content, and delay the process of ripening and senescence.

The late-ripening sweet persimmon “Gongchengyue persimmon” treated with 4.2% ascorbic acid solution for 1 hour had the best inhibitory effect on the softening of persimmon fruit after ethephon stimulation, and the fruit had a good fresh-keeping effect.

Snow peach

The fruit soaking treatment with a compound preservative composed of 1000mg/L ascorbic acid, 5g/L calcium chloride, and 3/L citric acid had the most obvious inhibitory effect on the rot and browning of snow peach during storage and had a fresh-keeping effect.

litchi

Soaking the fruit with 8.8 mg/L ascorbic acid solution for 5 min can improve the fresh-keeping effect of lychee and reduce the rot rate of 8.8×103 fruit.

Longan

Using Panpan’s 8.8x103mg/L ascorbic acid ascorbic acid for 15 minutes can improve the preservation effect of longan.

carrot

Using 100mg/L ascorbic acid solution to soak for 20min to treat carrots of “Jinghong Wucun” and “Whipstickhong” can effectively delay the aging process of carrots during storage, which is beneficial to prolong the storage time of carrots.

Improve quality and increase production

rice

In the seedling stage, the 30mg/L liquid of Panpan Industry was sprayed once to increase the yield.

Tea

Before the buds sprout, spray 20-30mg/L liquid medicine 4 times, which can promote dark green leaves, neat buds, and strong buds, improve tea quality and increase yield.

chili

10d and 20d after seedling transplanting, foliar spray treatment with 30-40mg/L liquid medicine can improve the quality and increase the yield by 10%-30%.

Tangerine, Orange, Grape

Applying 10-30mg/L ascorbic acid liquid of Panpan Industry before the fruit starts to ripen, spraying twice, with an interval of 7-10d, can increase the content of vitamin C and soluble solids, and increase the yield by 10%-15%.

bayberry, cherry, red peach

In flower bud stage, young fruit expansion stage, before fruit maturity and at the end of fruit picking, spraying 30-40mg/L ascorbic acid liquid once each can increase the content of vitamin C and soluble solids, the coloring rate is as high as 90%, and the yield is increased. 10% to 30%.

watermelon, melon

In the seedling stage, the flower bud stage and the young melon stage, spraying 25-40 L of ascorbic acid liquid once each can increase the yield by 10%-30%, make the melon skin thin, less fiber, tender meat, sweet and refreshing, and early ripening 5~7d.

①The aqueous solution of ascorbic acid is acidic, and it is quickly oxidized to dehydroascorbic acid after contact with air.

②It turns light yellow after a long storage time.
