【7】Physical and chemical properties

Hemin is crystal or powder, light transmission is dark brown, refraction is steel blue, odorless and tasteless, melting point >350℃, the relative density is 1.383[(20±1)℃]. Insoluble in water and acetic acid, slightly soluble in 70%-80% ethanol, soluble in dilute sodium hydroxide solution to form heme, soluble in strong organic acids (such as trimethylamine and xylidine) and acetic acid, soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid When iron is lost, it is easily soluble in dilute ammonia water. Sensitive to UV light and stable to heat.
